Most ecom stores vibrate with modernistic gogo : I dont want to know how many clickable links there are off the amazon.com home page. Etailers are full of rich colours to match the buying season; nothing is too flashy; there is an emphasis on design by committee; click-tracking software autogenerates optimization recommendations based on exit-page analysis, and so on.
So when I saw ksubi (the boyz from bondi), formely with a T till there was a court case, had launched an ecommerce site I checked it out. What I snickered at was the targeted use of self referential design in aping google. The idea is so smart, an agency couldnt have pitched it, unless they brought in Michael Bay and Commbanks agency that has been on the box over the cricket season. (update : designed by reactive, neat)
Anyway, to check my clicking fingers didnt deceive me, the first page that appears once u select your country, only has a search box (what sort of ecommerce site doesnt sell products mr warhol snick snick), Instead u have to find the gender text tabs at top eg mens: before u get any product shown. Check it out :
Funny and effective:) I had been looking for an online shop to buy ksubi sunnies from too.
