Had a late quartet of back2back flashforward_back w/body linguistics time travelling programming (#Lietome S1E5, #Damages S2E8 #Lost S5E9 #Lifeonmars S1E13)- that was about as entertaining as it gets, well maybe other than The Watchmen Gold Class as seemed popular in WA : If you havent seen it #Damages S2  (watch Ep_9 ere) is channeling The Wire : When Marlo’s crew S5E9 used a clock on a mobile phone to designate the GPS address for the next Russian White wholesale re-up.

Well Damages is way more complex than The Wire and not in a bad way - A monopolist market leader Walt Kendricks (lead by another Wire cast : Police Commissioner) is able to withhold supply and increase prices : And then the coked up MIT Energy Trader via a scheme organised by Lester Freamon relays the data points via a 4WD parked in designated spots around New York with the sat nav units incl GPS points which equates to the coming changes in the market.

But The Trader is also being tailed by Patty’s partner who knows bout the 4WD but no idea the application other than there is a connection to Kendricks via hooker being busted with The Trader who uses his General Counsel, which wouldnt happen in real life btw but we can suspend disbelief for such a good show; Real suspense. The Trader then gets charlied and plays the Futures/Derivatives market, with the profits being shared by Freeman, Kendricks and so on. Except the trader got busted with a hooker, and hooker’s tryin to go clean, get joint custody of her kid, go to night skool, and Patty Hewes - played perfectly again by Glenn Close - can help her with that.

So basically Damages is The Wire crossed with the grownups of Gossip Girl specifically Chuck Bass’ Senior’s Secret Society of Ultra Rich US business people + politicians : Using the flashforwards/back of the current season of #Lost, which I really enjoy watching back to back each week with Damages. But my big call is for all u bloglunatik_fringe who say The Wire is the best TV show ever, if u dont watch Damages, well u make no sense… as Damages Season 2 is the natural successor of The Wire. Except it deals with legal criminality not the illegal type. Ironically, in the legal business world, there is far less morality and no code. It is as Patty husband says driven by self-interest which he says is tempered by free market economics. Damages Season 2 is all about how the market isn’t free, as companies and the individuals behind it, collude to unfree it, and profit by the billions for themselves. Lester Freamon u’ve been a bad boy all those years in teh Lost and Found department of the police!

Sawyer, Jim LeFleur + The Dharma Years

That said, onto Lost, and it’s easy to start with Sepinwall - the best TV writer who blogs, who has the perfect Lost S5E8 episode recap, which was about Sawyer, who is stuck in the 70s (if u r not up with Lost this series is not about where you are, but “when” you are…) : “I’ve always enjoyed Sawyer, but separating him from Jack (both during season three and this season) has been good for the character. It forces him into a leadership role, and he’s even more appealing as a reluctant hero than he is as a charming irritant. The very nature of “Lost” allows the show to explore lots of genres - sci-fi, horror, action-adventure, espionage, soap opera, personal drama — and their archetypes, and Sawyer the con man fits well into so many of them. Here, we got to see him be all Steve McQueen (with Juliet, I suppose, as Yul Brynner) in his confrontation with the two Hostiles (the looks they trade are pure McQueen/Brynner in “Magnificent Seven”), but also to see him as the crusty but benign boss in an off-beat period workplace drama (”The Dharma Years?”).”

Awesome New Neo-Soul Album : The Way I See it - Raphael Saadiq, absolutely awesome. Have it in 10 minutes I had it ton replay for hours yday…  Found via this gr8 LA-ist interview : “The talented soul man Raphael Saadiq headlined at the House of Blues on Monday night, and I arrived determined to dance until there were holes in my shoes. His latest The Way I See It had been on repeat in my car for most of 2008. Not Feeling : Kanye’s Luis Vuitton Kicks via BKRW in the high end priced sneaker bracket, dont mind design - dont like his colours. Offwhite is best, the rest have pink in them other than black suede which would be second choice. Not sure why u would pay prob twice Common Projects SS09 which is at least twice as good

Feeling : Love the Super Sunglasses line (who effortlessly use good design, have a real blog, gr8 flickr and myspace, they know how to build/sell the brand to extremely style conscious celebrities and Gen-Y which I assume makes their business hit hypergrowth and huge gross margins)  - If I bought a pair tomorrow (check my flickr for sunnies) it would be between this (Light Grey Flat) and the Mosley Tribes (who use an interesting water oasis landing page oasis followed by high impact french hip hop audio before jumpin into high end photog of collection) Castellano line in Matte Grey.

I dont like the gold pictured but these in Matte Grey totally rock. They used to sell at karmaloop.com but now r like a ghost and impossible to find. They did a collab with Crooks and Castles that Jayz wore that made them even more sold out.

I do like the black ALife post Raybans a couple pix above tho.. altho there are only 500 in world in the 4 colours…
