Social Times : "According to the latest Compete.com statistics, Twitter has surpassed 14 million users, up over 76.8 percent since last month when we wrote that they had surpassed 8 million users. Is it nipping at the heels of Facebook? Not at all! Facebook also had a huge month and surpassed 90 million U.S. users according to Compete.com."
So Facebook is up to 200m users via Inside Facebook, but it’s mainstream users are leaving it for twitter like they did myspace before it. With twitter at 14m according to Compete via Social Times (and not counting all that mobile + api traffic etc!), friendfeed (new beta is kewl) may not have many users now, but circa twitter 2007, friendfeed will have it’s day.
Techcrunch : “Meanwhile, competitor FriendFeed, despite a continuous stream of innovative new features, is languishing. It has just 637,000 monthly uniques according to Comscore, or about 6.4% of Twitter’s flow. FriendFeed has less users today than it did last October, according to Comscore. Cofounder Paul Buchheit says that isn’t accurate (and I believe him), but it’s clear that the service hasn’t grown much in the last few months. Twitter is adding more users every week than FriendFeed has in total.”
Still what comes next is unclear..

Inside Facebook : "Just seven months after hitting the 100 million user mark last August and 90 days after hitting the 150 million mark in January, Facebook confirmed today that the site has just crossed another major milestone: 200 million users. On average, Facebook has added nearly half a million users per day, every day, since late August. If Facebook were a country, it would now have the 5th largest population in the world (about 70% of Facebook users are outside the United States)."
