"i cant believe i gave up stripping for u" #californication S3E8

It was one of those unproductive days in front of the computer + the internet populace, where u conduct a whole range of commercial and non activities, but at the end of it, the net sum is likely negative.

the happy hilary duff #gossipgirl threesome the night before the morning after

That doesn’t particularly phase me; Swings + Roundabouts. Bad Day 2day. Good1 2morro. And anyway can go to the gym at 5pm, pound out 9kms on the treadmill and have it beam-up to the Nike+fitness cloud.

3+ minutes quicker 2day : BB ran 9 km on 11/13/2009 at 6:07 PM with a pace of 6'47"/km

Some people like to fill their tanks up with petrol - possibly start of week, or if true value-optimisers : At a time of the week where public road bodies, accc attackers and iraqi petrol conspiracy theorists - advise us getting from A to B petrol burners - when to buy our climate destroying gas.

im sick of the serial killer foreplay just kill him already #dexter or him u but the show is called #dexter so fkn kill him S4E8

If there is 1 thing I miss from the Big Brother work, its the petrol card. Well cards, actually. “Fill it up”. He muttered to himself.

Constantine Jacket spacer Front snap closure. Rib collar, waistband. Dbl welt rib pockets, contrast left rib sleeve, diamond quilt lining. Embroidered patches; chest, Right sleeve. All cotton fine twill jacket Options: BLACK

From Triumvir product designer/cofoundr : "Thought the Blind Faith theme can be best translated onto a bomber styled jacket when I was researching WWII air force squadrons and saw a particular graphic on the side of a plane with Felix the Cat holding a bomb on it, Felix meaning “Lucky” in Latin"

Need the Trivmvir constantine bomber before the 150 pieces r sold 4 good - its next purchase

With some of the new Gourmet's jumping on the big Pony Hair trend....

I digg the Adidas Ransom line it's well priced too. Like the black on black canvas or leather models.. or blue suede chukkas r nice too:P

The Adidas I really like tho r by the Undefeated Cofounder James Bond who did an awesome line for David Beckham of all folk. These look like 2009 Doc Martins should...

Alternately and these were selling for $75USD at Huf Luv Converse Skidgrip 100 HFZ Mid HUF - where half the $ go to fight Aids in Africa.

So I’m not a fill’er’up’er’er ATM. If I filled my tank up on a Monday for example, it would make me feel poorer; Less cash in pocket. Less in my Bendigo Community Bank.

I'm actually glad S3 of #MadMen is over altho annoying that the final ep was so good (relatively) along with the lawnmower episode early on in series.

Not that it makes any difference to my driving habits, and thus the amount of petrol I use and money I spend.

Drapers a tool, the flighty teacher i dont mind #madmen S3E11 in the ep named "The Gypsy and The Hobo" - Which 1RU Dick Whitman and Don Draper ?

While I had more money, I didn’t really. 1 to 2 return trips to Melbourne a week. 5 trips to the gym 20 mins each way at 80km-100kmhr. 2 trips to rye return. Errands. Maybe 300-500kms a week / 1.5 to  2 tanks of petrol?

Ended up loving the HBO #BoredtoDeath. Recommend the 8 episode of 25 minutes a go... the 3some is highlarious:P!

So back to pounding out a bad day at the gym. But on this particular day I dont have enough petrol to get there and back. So I need gas.

“$15 unleaded thanks.” I say to attendant - They still pump yer gas around’ere which is good.

Trouble Maker Current Line : Crooks and Castles not what it used to be but there are always standout pieces

Luv this just lookbookd not in shops yet 10 deep Baseball/Coaches Jacket with killa badging. Called the 10 Deep Terrible Tenth I just learnt : $154USD at CompoundGallery.com - These will go vvquick:P

Or if u want the 10deep in textbook (and same as Triumvir Constantine...) Black with white piping... Click 4 the 10deep.com Lookbook

Working the gas ain’t a bad thing, careerwise. Honest quid’n'all’that. People migrate from working the video store/cafe to the servo station/mechanics.

Compound Gallery get dope stock in and quicker than nearly every1 and sell it for no more than retail or even less... which for ultra new stock is rare..

Having worked in video store they know their directors, Japanese manga, noir.

Navajo. Chimayo. Americana. It is through these three themes that best describes April77’s 2009-2010 Fall Winter Collection. These keywords not only bring forth the essence of this season’s clothing line, but forge a new path in modern apparel.

Canon G11 angular muscular. Read Digital Camera Review dot com. I still want S90 but make mine a Canon this time.

Probably one or two too many false positives there. They arent stoopid round’ere either. Bullshit detectors on high. Followup question.

LEICA HERMES M7 comes paired with a “Leica SUMMILUX-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. wide-angle lens, a matching classic round lens hood, a LEICAVIT M rapid winder and a real leather carrying strap matched to the colour of the camera !

Although TBH, I’m not so sure.

blogging is sooooo 2005 :)

But it’s a good raison d’etre question to ponder in between sitting on the imac, getting funding/petrol, and emitting workout data to nike+ fitness.

my immaletufinish SUPER SIDEVIEWS BLACK summer sunnies arrived from SESTO ULTERIANO ITALY *Then I started mumbling about utilisation of labour percentages and how I need to increase my base utilisation from a low percentage to a high percentage, while reiterating I am vhappy with the work I am doing at a low utilisation. Heck I've been high utilisation at a high rate but productivity / value creation / actually achieved thingz is waaaay low. U end up driving hours each day to attend meetings which just generate more work u have less time for. Now I want to work high value / high yield. Virtual; Years later - u (cant help but) look at what has been acheived and wonder if there isn't a better way to get the X, Y and Z right - so that is what I'm trying to do.... grow from a small base of the right things... get good word of mouth.. work with good people.. get great results.. do things the right way... with good outcomes... and Deniro/Heat style... 'be ready to leave in 60 seconds....' - The work that is... or the work/life balance thing.. ok im off 2 gym on a friday.. want this change to kick in hard...

The Real_Time_Web vs The_Longitudinal_One.

Nice res on the new iPhone 3GS which snapped well my shiny TK Society kix which pre-purchase I happily did a realtime search for the best price (which i found deeply embedded) via Supratalk.com forums : When it comes to etail purchases listed price is only the start - u need to determine whether coupons can be used to drive price down. So some forum digging which directed me to retailmenot.com coupon for karmaloop.com 20% off the $136USD retail - which compared very nice thankuverymuch to the $280AUD retail over at Laced (who I commend for getting kick in unlike most other slack Aussie retailers) Even with expensive UPS shipping when u buy from O/S (not that I complain about security of guaranteed delivery in under 10 days to Mornington Peninsula from Boston) I saved $100USD+/$130Aussie_Dollars thx2 some realtime search, find + transact.

Some Background on the Purchase + how Traditional PageRank Relevance Web Searching is being overtaken by Using the Real Time Web, and even though using Internet Word of Mouth, Twitter Search and Forums, it’s not like any One Player - whether it be Facebook or Twitter be close to Stitching up the Real Time Web: It was a late shift to the TK Society’s in Patent Grey by Supra : I’d been staking out the Italian Ferrari nephew and currently discounted by 35% due to end of season Common Projects Safaris + Tournament Mid Velcros, but then I was pinged that the TKs had hit the market : It wasn’t google or twitter that alert me but a word of mouth alert on these kix - thxU - via a Street Styling Sighting over on Imelda.com.au in Sydney….. and I immediately thought REPREZENT MELBOURNE IN THE HOuSE> W3LL MORNINGTON PENINSULA STYLINGZ - I HAD 2COP theZ3 KiX!) sorry I just genY shouted. It must be that twitter thing, turns u into a 140 character spambot. Or maybe as Krunch Mogul says it creates non-anonymous circling death squadz AKA “Shangri-La for mob justice enthusiasts”.

So.. as The TK’s (Terry Kennedy the skater himself above, not bad having such a fine kick named after u and bringing in the benjamins) were suddenly released after a year or so of teaser pics, tweets and blog posts by the Supra team (who r experts at social media marketing - they r killing nike with prob 1/100th of the sneaker marketing budget) over at Factory 413. I’m glad I had Timing + Patience thx2 having the inside info via Real Time Social Media Word of Mouth… as it would have been easier but ultimately not what I wanted if I’d picked up one of the first two releases of the TK Society was Purple Suede + Perforated Black with Red Sole.

So when the wear with everything Patent grey were the 3rd Colourway made public - after confirming they werent available downunder via a landline ringaround (again Google nor the Yellow Page were any use to me here) - I was quickly (G_blogsearch + .com) Googling to find the best in the know forum - which ended up being SupraTalk.com Forums - that then put me onto the best price conversion being via Karmaloop.com combined with retailmenot.com 20% off coupon.

Air Yeezy by Kanye which were meant to retail at $300USD-ish but quickly were resold at 2-3 times average that were an extreme example of not just Real Time Web technologies, but how that spills onto the street - Consumers camping out for a week for sneakers / angling people they know who work at stores to do them favours / high quality fakes being sold for hundreds of dollar on eBay - Forget about #Spooks and the Secret Service fighting Cold War 2.0 (unless u r new head of MI6 _ yer wife spills the beanz on facebook) : Just to keep aware of what is really going on in the street u need to be tracking thousands of topics, datapoints, product codes and feeds to stay close to the always on Younger Faster Cooler Generations that can wear and look good in skinnies. You might or might not be amazed at how many sneaker forums by brand (”Supra’ or “Common Projects”) and subforums for models (Supra/TK Society or Common Projects/Safari) there are : Combined with “real-time” twitter feeds by category of kicks - eg hightops / nike-kanye yeezys / high end chukkas / retro asics etc PLUS new research angels such as 2-4 minute Unboxing and profiling of kicks via YouTube vidz- Here’s the one I used to check the TK’s look good in real life as photos can be photoshop_exposure_light settings flickrd with bigtime - video seems to lie less - it is more likely to make a sneaker look average to bad if it is while pix can be opposite -The Sneaker Market : that footwear u once supposedly only wore for exercise. This is one fast + sophisticated market. And dont think other markets like FMCG won’t end up like this….

Next Real Time Web Case Study : Let’s take the above pictured seemingly innocent Adidas Superstars Kick - which is probably best remembered as the default 3 stripes for Run DMC. What they are is one of five-ish shoes per phase spread across 3 stages of released collaborations Adidas did with leading clicks + sometimes mortar retailers who have diversified into designing, without having to invest in pesty manufacturing plants + questionable third world labour issues. The pictured Superstar was a joint effort of the parties involved in the “Group 4″ - I’ll take the Off-White Cream with black laces and tongue.

Sneaker Freaker summarise the project thus : “The third and final drop of the 3Way Consortium project from adidas Originals sees the series heading East for a work-around between some of the most respected sneaker retailers and influencers of the region. With the choice of working on the five models together in whatever manner they chose, Acu, Crooked Tongues (London based but with strong ties to Thailand), D-Mop and VA decided to pair up on two shoes each and all collaborate together on the fifth. From the Espo-inspired Samba Shuttlecock to the hefty hunk of Forum Mid, it’s the vintage-dipped Nizza, Oriental porcelain-designed Stan Smith and nubuck Superstar that stand out of this illusive collection.”

love the offwhite nubuck + black from the adidas-3way-3rd-drop

God is in the Details as Product Managers paraphrase. What is extra kewl about this collab- Rather than having to buy 5 different pairs of kicks to get all the colour combos - the online ordered “package” dropping on July 18th - comes with 5 re/detachable laces tongues (the lead on the project was “Crooked Tongues” after all) Feel like all black or white - maybe even burgundy or green ?

Now economists have been talking about Mass Consumer Customisation for a long time. But just as Choose Your Own Adventure/Ending was never going to be the overriding format for Hollywood or the Television, one size fits all is far too common in too many markets for too many products; In the land of oligopolic Australia for example, switching your bank, internet connection or mobile phone plans is heavily weighted against via upfront cash overly onerous penalties, financial incentives to sign long contracts, cross-platform contract bundling on 24 month contracts, and generally making it really fn hard that why would u risk losing the internet for a month while the telco gets around to your “Fast Transfer”.

adidas 3Way 'Asian Group' Superstar 80s

So, while changing the Tongue of your kicks isn’t much…. it may match your burgundy hoodie while popping down the street to buy your $20 mafia like government priced smokes, which is then redistributed under a Micro-Lotto like via $900 Economic Stimulus to the government voting white collar working classes… It’s still a little win in the game of they giveth and taketh away. From Crooked Tongues on designing the adidas 3Way ‘Asian Group’ Superstar 80s : “The Superstar 80s is, for us, the definitive cut of a legendary shoe. We’ve been keen to play with this model for years - for 3Way, the opportunity arose. The problem with getting a Superstar to rework is that we found ourselves confused as to what to do with something so close to all our hearts without damaging that legacy, both personal and further reaching, and after all the attention it’s had since it’s 35th anniversary in 2005, what new looks can we bring to the table. First things first - this is a shoe that needs to be kept clean - there’s no room for funny business..  Each team store was allocated its own embossed tongue - VA opted for a grey and yellow, D-Mop went for a snake-effect pattern that incorporates browns, ACU chose green and we opted for Burgundy as a trademark colour. A more impartial option comes in the shape of a black one that carries all the names. A collection of laces, including an off-white pair, greys, burgundies, greens and blacks means a perfect match, and for starters, 5 individual looks in 1 package without any compromises on quality. This model is limited to the team retailers involved, as well as O-Stores, and it’s set for release in the Crooked Store on Saturday 18th of July.”

So while Collaboration Created Sneakers may be a Posterchild for a Trending Towards Mass Customisation Economy, the Real Time Web - which happens to be the latest hot segment to invest in/startup around - is helping the Crooked Tongues, Sneaker Freaker, Huf, Undefeated, The Hundreds reach and breakthru 8 figure turnovers by selling lifestyle clothing and shoes to the same market that buy video games : Ageing GenX, some boomers and hip Gen_Y’s with big pocket money and part time jobs. But so far, like blog search - the horizontal nature of the term - with time as a filter or differentiating factor may be anything from cute to misleading. I’m sure Sand Hill Road is already getting the pitches that simply add “Real Time” onto an existing segment - or even triple derivative - “Real Time” may be added onto a Web 2.0 segment.

  • “Retail” thx to Amaxon + Ebay successfully became “Etail” or “Shopping” became “E-Shopping”
  • Web 2.0 added “2.0″ onto any category so “Retail” became “Retail/Etail/Shopping/eShopping 2.0″ but then “Social” replaced 2.0 - So it became “Social Shopping” ! Maybe even “Social Shopping 3.0″ if your VC or non tech sector Angel knew no better.
  • Now it becomes “Real Time Social Shopping” where we aim to change the world with our real time inventory checking, purchase intention of crowd sourced structured user data ratings blah blah

So while REALTIME becomes the new buzzword du jour in the targeted venture segmentalot of the current (consumer) offers still dont solve real (enterprise) problems..

The major segment of action so far is “Real Time Search” - With blog search pretty much RIP - the action went to Summize.com which became Twitter Search - which by definition didnt search outside Twitter. Further Twitter search happily didnt have the Search Engine Optimised Spam early on which protected the largly recency based search using basic keyword/phrase boolean AND/OR/NOT logic.

Which was fine till the spambots arrived on Twitter… remember the days when new followers were kewl human beings…

It made logical sense that the next round of Real Time startups would try to improve on what Summize achieved with their handy 8 figure exit : New startups like Scoopler (adds in Flickr as one added content type but is still twitter centric), Trendrr, Yauba, Topsy (focuses on building authority via twitter actions eg retweets) and many others I cant remember - focused on indexing user generated text skewed microbloggy content types other than Twitter.

When in doubt google advanced search

I’ve tested most of these - however my test is to compare against a combination of Friendfeed Search, Twitter Search, Google Blog Search + the most important of all of them : Google.com Advanced Search that allows search by time - in the last hour/day/week/month/year : are  parameters I use very regularly. If you can add these searches to Google Reader via atom/RSS I’d use all the time, but for whatever reason google is scared of offering advanced search results by feed. Maybe I should try BlastCasta which combines Google + Twitter Search.

I definitely think the Real Time for awhile now Friendfeed is going in the right direction…

But to go back to my Sneaker Researching/Obsessing behaviour, and also to think about what happens in the typical consumer internet research phase 1-3 months pre-purchase : There are lots of “Real Time” Sources beyond twitter, with probably the most important being Forums - that are based around an Industry, Manufacturer/Brand and it’s various Products (eg Sneaker Freaker for Sneakers / CaymanClub.net for Porsche Caymans / etc) You also then have a “real time” intersection into the product review space.. there must be a heck of alot of reviews already linked to or mentioned in Twitter and Friendfeed - The reality of meta-product review search on the Page Rank Web is it is too corrupted by SEO spam and links that are circular, Combining high authority / well moderated / segment and brand forums with twitter/friendfeed : would be really useful - It could tell u when there is are new links, reviews, tweets, videos, pictures for the car/watch/sneakers u r “following” / looking for / to buy etc.

If you flip around the consumer searching for a company’s product to buy : One solution I have been using extensively/offering to clients is the Premium Version - highly affordable but not free Filtrbox.com : They are focused on The Real Time Web that matters to enterprises and also Power Users. They are dedeuplicating double results. They allow the filtering between blogs, social networks and twitter. You can generate reports in html, .xls or html in under a minute and email thru to clients. You receive daily emails with new matches. And all the alerts I setup in Google Reader can be sync’d (son) with Filtrbox (and vice versa : alerts I generate in Filtrbox I can add to my Enterprise Google Reader Social Media Intelligence Dashboard (thats a mouthful i know;) so all the client mentions goes into one dashboard) In short it rox. If interested ping me.

The enterprise gaps I see in all the Search related products I’ve used beyond indexing more than twitter like Web Forums (not to mention key brand related spaces such as viral videos and advertising tracking within social media) is moving beyond boolean search. Clients need to be able to breakout :

  • Parent Company vs Product Brand Level Mentions
  • Identify who the Influential Social Media Commentators are talking about their Brand and contact them
  • In near real time identify emerging trends and quantify them and group which of their business unit it affects, which consumer segments and marketing tactics. But in short : Trend Identification.
  • Move beyond recency to popularity or real time Virality that is relevant to the company tracking it

With tools and related API’s such as Twinfluence, Filtrbox, Feedly and Postrank.com - there is the ability to score the popularity/viral’ness of entries (out of 10), triangulate the data, and aggregate up the scores of entries attributed to a source. Which starts to give an idea of who the influential social media commentators a client has talking about them.

The developers and startups in the Real Time Search space - while possibly not interested in the Brand Mentions space and breaking out differences between parent Company Mentions vs Brand level ones, will probably find the same recurring issues in so far as aiming to move beyond pure boolean recency to a more relevance based search result. Which ironically is where Google is already. Except google hasnt yet been able to fine tune the real time results well enough that the important links + tweets can be pulled out and displayed alongside a google search result in the same way it does now display a YouTube video when appropriate.

OK, before this post eats itself I’m going to jump in the Ferrari California first ferrari with a folding hardtop or maybe the extra fast loud yellow on black rims The Novitec Rosso Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M. At least those cars have a Real Time to 100 metres of 3.7 seconds - give or take half a second depending on model. Then again, I havent sold my Real Time Search Company, so I may have to wait till July 18th for the Adidas Superstars by Crooked Tongues collaborators to come out for 100 quid or so. And they have the kewl changeable tongues after all. Hows them Mass Customisation Apples ?

Store Review : Adidas Outlet’ Smith Street Collingwood

Address : 337 Smith Street, Collingwood VIC, off Victoria Street.

Key Stock : Diesel Adidas Jeans discounted, that were sold at high end Adidas Originals Store

Jeans I wanted were a Diesel X Adidas Collab, not cheap. $310USD was overseas retail, altho they were only a Euro/Asia release hence there’s no deadstock being pawned off on ebay cheaply. Not $400AUD which is what they retailed for at Adidas Originals Chapel Street. While they came out in SS08 I handled, pictured, check priced, and noted they had my size. Didnt have the finances to justify !

Found out by luck that old Diesel Adidas stock is being sold at Adidas Outlet in Smith Street Collingwood.

Rocked up there 2pm today running far too late, and found they had at least 100 pairs of discounted stock.

My pair were on hold. Outlet price $240AUD.

30% Royals Discount FTW ! And I dont use FTW lightly.

Made price $168AUD.

For Diesels top signature jean - The Thanaz.

In a colour - Stone Grey - it makes few to none in… or any greys/charcoals for that matter. The Diesel code is 08HD (for reference diesel has at any one time 7-10 jean cuts/styles - whether skinny be in, or bootcut, straight leg etc. Thanaz which i got is there skinny jean cut.

Then they combine the name “Thanaz” with a cut, which has a colour. In this case 08HD.

Interestingly the retail workers at Diesel Chapel Street I dont think really get this.. and their buyer doesnt either.. as the cut and codes that are popular in US/Europe for Diesel is not at all or even close to what they stock in Chapel Street store.

For example they dont stock black skinnies, let alone grey skinnies… with adidas unique features.. not to mention also being available in my size!

Im pretty tempted to go back for the Black Thanaz 08IE. Basically Diesel Adidas Black Skinnies. Retailed for $480AUD. Outlet Price $180. So That would be $126 discounted.. or $100 USD.. when these do come up on Ebay.com (.au just has diesel fakes let alone the adidas collab) They go for $150USD to $285USD. As below.

I was aiming to get Black Coated Raw Jeans… and see what this whole raw jeans thing is like.. but this diesel adidas deal is so much cheaper for jeans that retail same price ($175USD shipped for American made raws vs $350USD for the proper black raws 22oz from Japan : Awesome Iron Heart brand or Dior Homme 19cm Noir Nostalgy) I digress.

Where I was very sensible today - was I paid $150 in bills even after trying on the Matte Black/Grey Undefeated Bronx Jacket.. That wasnt on sale $229AUD, but it did fit perfectly and look the goods. I will go back for, but just depends if my size sells.. or if I can get the C-Card to work on the Crooks Castles Crossbone jacket on Caliroots.com :) OK back to footy.. throat is killing.. another early night (my body after going to sleep at 11pm last night woke up like clockwork 5 hours later at 415am…) it didnt know what to do.. esp with that jab of pain.

fogies. fogies. fogies.

When Time Magazine says something isn’t kewl, and titles the  piece Why Facebook is for Fogies, then either reverse psychology applies (Facebook is for Young Hipsters), or it really isn’t. (Facebook is actually for Fogies as Filmoculous says : “I especially like that he used the word ‘fogies’. If ever there is a fogie word it is fogie.“)

U know when on the latest ep of Numb3rs Charlie’s dad is talking about joining Facebook and meeting ppl he went to school with then Facebook investors can luckily know what they have isn’t a fad. It’s just the new Linkedin; A boring necessity. And look how linkedin is kicking goals now there is a recession. (22% increase from Dec 08 to Jan 09 and a doubling of minutes spent if u can believe it, via TC?!) You would think with 175m Facebookers, the company might be able to take a page out of the mid 90’s Yahoo playbook (given they prefer to steal than come up with their own ideas) and gmail up an employment, business networking model, with a new friend of a friend referral twist.

@ Bit Twittered or should i just blog or get linkedin ?

I’m also feeling that with twitter’s m@instre@mis@tion it’s becoming a bit on the tired not wired side, even tho it is totally indispensable, but to be more specific and I might use one of those twitter 3rd party followers management tools in that when I look at new followers - I can’t help but feel a cynical quid pro quo which is doubled up if i do follow then get an autogenerated thku message that is meant to sound personal - New Twitter followers, which are no doubt increasing faster and faster : Often appear either slightly spammy, or part of the religious right or affiliate marketing world - Sometimes all three. All of which makes me wonder what is post twitter ? Plurk peaked and dropped quickly; Friendfeed is nice but socio-nerdy - I’d like something that’s a MySpace meets Twitter cross, any ideas ? If indeed social networks are like nightclubs, then where is the new hot place to be ? By extension, I’m also wondering if I should be spending more or less time blogging vs (more constructive possibly devils advocate ?) business/social networking on linkedin, facebook or twitter. In retrospect tho I’ve got alot of work via my blog… but proving that is very anecdotal. When I didn’t blog I got no work as well, which seems to support the blog is important thesis. Not to mention having to calculate the effect of lag. (ie blogging u do now generates work in 3 to 6 months and vice versa - not surprising that not having a blog from Sep 08 to late Dec 08 meant first time in 4/15 years with no work - previously i actually thought the blog had no impact either way on work - we’ll see in 3 months what impact current blogging has on bottom line) In effect : What is the optimal social media mix with an eye on $ecuring work ? That is indeed the $64K question, or as Francis Fukuyama said, is this indeed the End of History ?

Nice Crooks & Castles Highness Letterman Jacket - Cant Stop the Crooks as they say.

Extra Link : I had to laugh actually ROFL which is rare in my world at Duncan Riley’s latest pitch from PR groups + banking prospects, who as mentioned yday got schooled by Coles on how to contribute to the #bushfires and today I heard they want to, no scrap that, they will be charging $2 to check your balance at the ATM - unfnbelievable, anyway back to Dunc : “Got pitched last month to promote a new Australian banking product. They wanted to give me a $10 account in return for a post. Now besides the paid for post argument which can be left for another day, apparently $10 in the eyes of that PR firm at least is fair game for a blog with 1.5-2.5 million page views a month.”

When it's Winter + I have made all this money from using Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin productively instead of wasting my time blogging for no1's benefit, I will reward myself with this Crooks sweatshirt, but in grey which u can see if u click image - Cant believe well I can, that u cant buy CrooksnCastles in Australia. Check out Swedens Caliroots.com and Boston i think Karmaloop.com - both awesome brands, reasonable prices esp if u can get a sale or coupon, and deliver with a week to Australia for no unfair fees. Later, Im goin go be productive now, Promise!

When you have 8 hours sleep for the first time in at least a ‘quarter’ : And 8 hours is double the average for the last fortnight. It feels a bit like taking valium. But in a good way; Also in a way that should have me suitably ‘peaked’ by 4pm for a 6pm bbqd_salmon-cranberryised_turkey-glazed_ham dinner when the majority of family arrive from inlaws + churching duties. (ma’s a priest; dad plays the organ, bro is involved in local church - so they all pack in anglican church services)

Edgerton Bros The Square : Click Image to Download.

So far my XMAS has been on the very happy side which is always a bit scary, touchwood it continues. It started with a 12am screening of Slumdog Millionaire - download ere or ere (after having finally watched the Aussie Edgerton bros take on dysfunctional heist movie : The Square - download ere or ere - it was a solid 7/10 but the character who took all wasnt really the character u were made to identify with so the ending didnt really do it for me) But Slumdog Millionaire was as good as the critics say. (imdb 8.5/10 which says alot in itself - about what id give if not more) Every review I read had been 5/5 or film of the year etc.. which was scary esp as my afternoon run listening to the excellent weekly FilmCouch podcast #96 (add their feed in itunes and get their weekly podcast well worth it as well as the spout blog itself : feed’ere), actually had the one negative review of Danny Boyle’s Slumdog, which scared me.

I needn’t have worried (i understand the reviewers whole ‘what happened to danny boyle?’ how come all his films r about the guy getting the grrl + $ maybe) as Slumdog is one of those films that hits you with a mallet at the start and it keeps going the whole movie (similar in that sense to Boyle’s previously best film Trainspotting)

There is an OMG moment 5 minutes or so in, that makes u know this will be a special film.

And Slumdog isn’t which so many serious film directors fall into the trap of, in making a technically top notch film, using cutting edge guerilla film techniques but ultimately leave u flat. (I’m thinking of Che by Soderbergh as the most recent example) The story between brothers is very conventional in one way, but also gripping, arresting, sad and fatal in another.

It's a story about brothers and gameshows, and guns and love:) Click to download it:P

Slumdog’s a film the whole family can watch, well the modern family that can handle a bit of offscreen implied torture; (Not that u really care) I’m going to try to get the right cable that @zbender + @andydigitale recommended so i can get the macmini playing these flicks on the Sony Bravia 32″ LCD. (the academy awards is so good for releasing great quality films to judges who then subversively leak the films to their bittorrent confidants.)

Its a Love Story too of course. Click to get Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack free.

After getting my unheard of 8 hours, I was in shock being it was 11am, then I had a big perfectly wrapped box. I got the overseas call (connecting time zones r a bitch without email/skype/text/twitter/friendfeed etc to coordinate), made many big thankus, and then unwrapped the heavily weighted package.

Blog Like a Parody of Yourself Day

One of my new years resolution especially in a post David Foster Wallace-less world, and indeed a tactic I recently employed in selecting a significant birthday card, is to not overly rely on irony, sarcasm, or go too pomo on the postmodernism. Not that I want to outlaw it. So I had to laugh at Caroline McCarthy’s “Blog Like a Parody of Yourself Day”. Now thats a meme I can grok; I wonder if Real Steve Gillmor will be able to out Fake Gillmor Duncan Riley, ahem blog parodying himself.

Caro : “Check out this link from the NYT that I reblogged from katiebakes. She went to Yale, which suxxxxx, but I love her anyway. New York magazine wrote something witty that nobody who doesn’t live south of 14th Street will ever understand, now here’s a link. My roommate, Your New Favorite Dodgeball User, got these bonsai trees and they all died. HIPSTER HUMOR HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. Wait a sec, I’m gonna quote Tom Wolfe quoting Edith Wharton. Link to a Daily Beast story. KARAAAAAAAAOKE.”

The Fake BB Parody : So I totally thought I would freestyle it wearing the Run DMC Leather tracksuit, this is the latest torrent file I’m watching, did u know that post modernism has been coopted by the blogging mafioso who went cold turkey at LeWeb, and Loic laced up his Adidas Originals when trying to perfect his transnational conversational media, now what happens post twitter post friendfeed, is there going to be a facetwitterbookfeed ? OK I better go for a run down the beach and have a cawfee.

Would love to read other people’s parody of themselves. DFW on irony (also check McSweeney’s memories on DFW from people that knew him) : “The great thing about irony is that it splits things apart, gets up above them so we can see the flaws and hypocrisies and duplicates.
