HP Mini Netbook + Common Projects Kicks Same Price hehe

So Netbook or Sneakers ? Is it a Laptop or it a Shoe Slash Boot. Anyways not had a pair of Common Projects or a Netbook before but I’ve fallen bad esp for both; Would like to sample Ubuntu for Dummies version + the current CP’ season seems less formal.. and use of velcro and desert boots - So 2009 hehe..

Safari boot my faves.. but the tournament low whites with 2 velcro strap I hadnt seen before are very kewl. The Achilles mid in black are also the kind of kick u could wear for a decade altho u would wear them so much they would wear out. Now a Rick Owens leather jacket to go with, if $$$ was no object yes please.

Its Common Projects + HP Mini Mi Netbook with Custom Ubuntu

It was nicer run last evening than Saturday when I got absolutely soaked !

New Show Last Night : Kings, havent decided - it could be good.. its not yer classic set in the past The Tudors like Kings show.

Or Christopher Walken King of New York. Its the PimpKing from Deadwood being King of future. And the prodigy is one of the Home + Away kids. Anyway I’ll keep watching it. Overall I Would recommend it.

Of Course the mentalist return was fun as Patrick Jane was blind all ep. Only thing annoying had to download ep twice as the RAR file was twice corrupted. Evil.I would love a whole ep where he acted like House and told the harsh truth. He does it in this ep to one of the female detectives the other cop has a crush on.. and it’s classic, while he remains nice of course. You cant rate 20m a week by being mean, well u can, but thats not why they turn into Simon Baker. It’s because he’s a charmer : Bandaged sunglasses n’all. BTW he must work in the most unsecure police station in America if the show is to be believed. I know  - It’s a TV show - suspend disbelief.

Underbelly continues it’s fine form, such a stellar cast and far superior product to last series. This one is far closer in pace and style to Sopranos, with a bit of the institutional corruption of The Wire and styling of Life on Mars and Swingtown. I think NIDA trained Matthew Newton will go onto big Hollywood roles, if he doesnt tear up too much post Gracie Otto troubles in The Cross.

The Sleeper Show of last night and likely cult classic is the Will Ferrell EP’d acquired taste of superstar baseball retired failure now school teacher Kenny Powers in HBO show Eastbound and Down. I cant even explain it and u cant even just watch one episode. Next week I’m likely to say it’s worst show ever, but S1E5 was a classic ep. There are 5 episodes at about 22 minutes each. Schools havent been so funnily displayed since Freaks + Geeks/Summer Heights High

20 days into month and I’n fn shaped again. But, I’m definitely a bit smitten with the HP Mini 1000 Mi netbook (1220NR model) on the 10.1″ linux4dummies ubuntu customised atom running SSD upgradeable 2Gig - and for the price that I’m expecting my work IMac to cost ($279-$399USfor decent spec/$678-$820 for XP version in Australia) Veronica Belmont certainly has speccd hers up noice designwise (think it might be running Windows 07 but until there are no viruses on Windows not goin near that O/S). I like the idea of a webcentric cafe elevator pitching sub $1k SSD atom 92% keyboard netbook.

chopper-hopper

chopper-hopper from an exhibition going on somewhere in north america whose link i lost between google reader and wordpress duh, oops, dont come after me mr blue velvet.

Open my google reader of 3k feeds, and all I can see is “Netbooks“. Om has a nice CES wrapup of the phenomenon : “These little machines have caught the imagination of many and sold millions of units this past holiday season. Personally, I am staying on the sidelines, happy with a Macbook Air and the touchscreen joys of an iPhone; but the trend continues unabated, as more and more devices come to market. The growing popularity of these low-cost netbooks, which are now mimicking regular laptops, is a scary prospect for PC component makers, especially Intel. So far, Intel is holding its own in the category, but it has two worries: the success of ARM-based netbooks and whether such devices will steal sockets from gear powered by its higher margin chips. When it reports earnings on Jan. 15, analysts are sure to ask if Atom is cannibalizing sales of Intel’s higher-end processors, such as Celeron and Pentium Dual Core.”

Is it a netbook if expensive ? Ala candy-red-quasi-netbook-vaio_p

Is it a netbook if expensive ? Ala candy-red-quasi-netbook-vaio_p

Om’s sister site JK_on_the_run has the product deets : “What we can expect to see is more of the same for the most part. More models, Atom inside, 8 - 10-inch screens, etc., etc.  Asus is pushing the limits a bit with the touchscreen convertible T91 we spied last night but no word is being shared on pricing for this little netbook. Little it is too with the 8.9-inch screen meaning the keyboard will be on the small side for touch typists. MSI is offering up the U115 Hybrid as yet another model to the Wind line and while hybrid storage technology is interesting it will certainly come at a price.  Price is the bugaboo that these OEMs have to contend with as it is a primary factor in which netbooks jump off the shelves and which don’t.  We’ve said it many times the more features you add the higher the cost soars and this is a problem in the netbook market. HP will be showing off their new HP Mini 2140 and we are looking forward to seeing that in the flesh.  We expect they’ll also be showing their Mini 1000 Mi with the fancy HP Linux shell.”

Love the treated Steel'ere of the Uboat Flightdeck MB

Just had a noice 9 hole hit at The Dunes Cup Course with Mister Edis, who I spent the Dot Crash working with, at the Yellow biz. Now just waiting for Siddle, Victoria’s new 8 wickets this test Australian Pace Strike Bowler to clean up the South African tail, which only happened with 10 balls to go ! Enjoying listening to only 7 overs left injured Graeme Smith batting with near one arm to try and save a draw, after Matt Hayden dropped a regulation catch.

Anyway, seems lawyer turned dotcom entrepreneur now barrister Samzidat7 has read the Murdoch bio “The Man Who Own the News” : I’m dying to read (Tys- can i borrow yer copy ill swap for Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz the new tho not of course DFW) : “Wolff makes no pretence that his biography is an objective, disinterested piece of writing. His views and prejudices are all over it - which means that it is no Shawcross (the definitive - but very dated Murdoch biography) but it is a fun read with lots of interesting (and presumably mostly accurate) anecdotes and snippets about Rupert and the Murdoch clan

Every technical person and my own business swear by and use Amazon Web Services. It’s a very “back-end” thing, but there will be increasingly front-end options developed as Amazon make them available. From the P2P blog, where it would be easy to charge a small micro-fee for um, cough, video downloads : “The new option is not available for Bittorrent downloads, which have been a little-known feature ever since S3 started. This may sound like a let-down, but could actually be an interesting option for content publishers as well as torrent hosting services like Vipeers: Offer torrent downloads for free, but charge end users for http donwloads through Amazon. Those charges would be relatively low, since S3 itself only costs between 10 and 17 cents per GB. However, developers still would have to pay a transaction fee of 0.30 USD per bill collected.”

So it seems there won’t be a sequel to Se7en but its not like I expected there to be an Eight, via The Playlist covering David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en, The Game, Benjamin Button) :

Some New Supra Skytop Colours. I Like the Burgundy, except Via Sneakerbistor.com : I luv my Silver Supra Skytops + the Timberland Version are next on my Hitlist.

New Supra Skytop Colours; Burgundy4Me Via Sneakerbistro.com : Luv my (Silver) Supra Skytops; The "Timmys" r next !

That’s right, after actually smacking John Goldwyn a few nights ago, Fincher seems to have totally snapped after last night’s Q&A at Lincoln Center. While he was allegedly discussing “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Fincher managed to oscillate wildly between “total maniac” and “abject dick.” Some of the highlights include his confusing account of pitching the film: “That’s a phone book!” said the studio, to which he adroitly countered, “No, it’s the film we want to make!” Later, he dished on his canny use of the picture’s $150 million budget, claiming that the production made $3.5 million in mistakes (which, frankly, may be a conservative estimate). Fincher closed by making sure his fans felt appreciated by responding to an audience query on the possibility of a sequel to “Se7en” by quipping: ” I would be less interested in that than I would in having cigarettes put out in my eyes.” Classy, dude.”

And on this non Steve Jobs health induced, or was it, Macworld’09 day, Techcrunch break it down (or click on pic for Engadget’s live blog of event) : “It’s unlikely we’ll ever know if Steve Jobs pulled out from the show with the direct intention of lowering expectations. But can you picture him presenting a keynote whose major highlights were an 8-hour laptop battery and some software updates? I don’t think he could either.”

So is bigger better ? or would u prefer the Sony Vaio P ultraportable or the HP ultracheap 9.7″ netbook ? Engadget again on will Sony beat Apple to the NetBook market which could well be Apples undoing (whether it be Asus, HP, Sony etc) : “Unveiled today is the backside of this tiny “notebook PC” as described by the FCC under the model numbers PCG-1P1L and PCG-1P2L (PCG synonymous with Sony’s VAIO laptop brand). We see tests for Bluetooth, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and both EVDO and HSPA data courtesy of Qualcomm’s Gobi chipset. What’s more, with the FCC providing the exact measurement of that label (128-mm wide), we can eyeball dimensions at just over 9.5 x 4.5-inches making this netbook even smaller than the 10.3 x 6.56-inch HP mini 1000. What impact that has on the QWERTY and trackpad (if there is one) remains to be seen.”

More important than tiny very cheap XP/Linux Netbooks vs 17″ expensive OSX ones, are Supra offering some new colours to their Skytop line (which im happily wearing for my xmas present, thxu!) via SneakerFiles which says of the “burgeoning independent brand Supra ballooned into one of the most prominent brands in the hip-hop world this past year. The Skytop, the company’s high-rising casual model, is returning this year in a burgundy patent leather make-up, an all-bronze color scheme, and an ink blue suede version.” Oh, and btw - I got this image sent to me via twitter by @missamanda re biggest grossing current US film w/ post rehab Owen Wilson post Brad Jen Aniston + a dawg that has a hard end : Marley and Me is finally out via torrent or webstream below :

Steve Jobs on AAPL making a Netbook : “There are some customers which we chose not to serve. We don’t know how to make a $500 computer that’s not a piece of junk, and our DNA will not let us ship that. But we can continue to deliver greater and greater value to those customers that we choose to serve. And there’s a lot of them.” (or NYT blogs interpretation)
