Daily beach run, listened to The Wrestler podcast with Robert D. Siegel - the screenwriter which pretty much perfectly describes the creative process : Screenwriter after editing The Onion for 9 years from 1994, wanted a change, hooked up with Requiem for a Dream Darren Aronofsky; Wrote 50 drafts over 3 years (”somewhere between a shitload and a fkload“) - Amazing, gr8 listen as all the podcasts from this series is, makes u think the writer is most or at least equal importance to director. Listen here.

The Wrestler was a gr8 little movie which I stayed up too late watching. Yer classic low budget indie, with the Mickey Rourke character being sad but compelling. Web stream ere, torrent ere.

There was actually alot of wrestling in the film, Mickey Rourke really had to get himself into shape.

Marisa Tomei’s character, an older stripper; Pam, whose obsolescence parallels Mickey’s The Ram. Both end up snapping, finding and not finding each other; and so on.

Ill Stay for One Beer. Click4Torrent.
There’s a major pissed off daughter story arc.

Dance with Ram yer Dad, Click to watch movie.
Kept reminding me of WWF as a kid and what is happening to those that arent Hulk Hogan.

I’m gonna have to see The Fountain now, the only film (ere is the torrent) of the directors 4 I havent seen.

Today I’ve off to The Dunes to play golf.

It’s not just google, the monopolist that would benefit from having parts of the facebook social graph ala the news feed indexable, and then usable in consumer search and enterprise intelligence/syndication offers via TechCrunch : “Yet making Facebook’s News feed searchable (on Google) would go a long way towards realizing the dream of social search. The Facebook feed already aggregates what my friends are doing not just on Facebook but all across the Web (Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Digg, etc.). It’s like Friendfeed in this respect, but with many more users.”

In Good News, both The Wrestler (imdb 8.8/10), and Curious Case of Benjamin Button (imdb 8.7/10) (watch webstream of BB ere) are out, so other than Doubt (imdb 8.1/10), by tomorrow I will have seen all the ‘major‘ films of significance! Ignore the design + join for free the not Dodgy fast Movie Hogs to see both. (Benjamin Button torrent ere; Wrestler ere)

Mickey Rourke, demented legend. I saw Nine 1/2 weeks in last year and it held up, in fact there is a real fashion thing goin on, no kiddin, wouldnt be surprised if it was armani dressed, some 80s deconstructed custom creations for the flick. Reading Natasha’s post below summarises why i cant wait to see The Wrestler via NatashaVC.Tumblr : “Hollywood is destiny. At no other point could Rourke have played this character with such grace and gravitas. It’s as if all of his humiliating blunders happened just so he could play the Randy “The Ram”: the part that will define his legacy. The parallels between the plot and reality are poetic. Rourke is, frankly, a fuck up. A dynamo actor who had enormous potential that he squandered. He crushed his career underneath with his own vanities and indulgences. Rourke’s fall from lusty playboy to a doughy mess held together by staples and stitches is typical Hollywood fare.”

Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson: I’m an old broken down piece of meat and I deserve to be all alone, I just don’t want you to hate me.
2005

Marv: I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you don’t feel bad.
Cardinal Roark: Will that bring you satisfaction, my son? Killing a helpless, old, fart?
Marv: Killing? No. No satisfaction. Everything up until the killing, will be a gas.
‘When asked in an interview what Rourke himself thought of being the most love-stricken character in the film, he replied: “I didn’t really think about it much that way. I did, it sort of nauseated me. I hate that feeling.”’
1986.
What do you do ?
I buy and sell money.
Some people call it arbitrage.
What do you call it?
I call it a living.

1987.
Louis Cyphre: Are you an atheist?
Harry Angel: Yeah, I’m from Brooklyn.

Great Listening before The Wrestler : 22 minute Howard Stern Dec 18 interview with the Director Darren_Arronofsky about Mickey Rourke, and how we got picked up by police on same day Darren breached Nick Cage’s contract to play The Ram because he wrote the part for Mickey.

So the Dexter finale (last 2 eps really) kinda sucked/was anticlimactic. Jimmy Schmitts as Miguel really peaked second half of series 3, esp rooftop Ep10. Unfortunately he was offed an episode too early; Didnt have the real control and then reversal of position with Dexter that happened end of series 1+2 with Dex serial killer protagonist; And the whole Skinner character needed to torture Dex more. Anyway I agree with Mr Sepinwall and his commenters.

Bye Miguel
Currently dreaming about : Hollywood Hills architecture, even if it is a bit modernist and white cliche. I could handle sitting out here as afternoons drifted. Via ArchDaily.
2 Movies I want to see : The Wrestler by Requiem for a Dream director with Mickey Rourke, and Slumdog Millionaire which is getting 5/5 reviews for its what happens when a Young Indian gets all the questions right on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Video interview about the technology involved in shooting between the 2 directors of each movie on Slashfilm.
