The UBoat Flightdec 50mm MB $4kAUD

So the Uboat Flightdeck 08 MB Model above may be my fave desired watch to have in 09 but at $4KAUD its just a dream in these recessionary times. And if u want ceramic or titanium shipped like the lovely new Flightdeck model below with red numbering to Australia with a retailer markup (very few overseas on retailers.. only one Uboat retailer downunder, being in Qld, very nice they were/are : hence vlimited supply leading to lack of discounting) Well given they retail for $3.5K-$4K+ USD/Pounds/Euro pick yer currency and double it for AUD…

Limited U-Boat Range at Asos but best available online so far + given only one retailer in Australia with no competition, prob the best place to buy Uboats for those downunder.

Limited U-Boat Range at Asos but best available online so far + given only one retailer in Australia with no competition, prob the best place to buy Uboats for those downunder.

U-Boat now on Asos.com

That said, the best overall deal for Aussies wanting a legit/new/with 2 year warranty is from Asos in the UK for either the beautiful U-Boat Classico AB4 53mm which won some watch of the year awards for 1290 pounds or $2740AUD- approx $1K less than retail or also from Asos the U-Boat Classico AS2 53mm for 940 pounds or $1996 Aussie, which is half/third the price of entry level Breitlings and Rolex. Maybe I could pick up those 39 quid perforated charcoal desert boots from Asos at same time and save on shipping hehe

However, in the ring at the otherside ladies and gentlemen let me introduce the new TW Steel “CEO” Canteen Line with the huge watchface of 53mm. The previous models were priced between $200-$500USD while keeping a fairly similar design to the Uboat Classico (not pictured but similar). The PVD model below is nice. Very nice for the likely sub $750 price even with crap AUD$ conversion, shipping etc + 25% price rise on last model.

WatchXL.com rool : "They are a category killer in as their name suggests Fn big watches.. but also carrying niche Euro brands with good quality production.. meaning they look good on ya wrist.. and people wont know if u r wearing a $10k collectible or in reality a 200euro chronograph!"

WatchXL.com

And when u compare it to the thousands of dollar uboats which i do desire but,,,, when u think the last equivalent TW steel model TW21-22 (which i did have eye on but colours were wrong being off yellow with brown or standard black with silver) but big selling point was functional design which could be shipped here for well under $500 if u looked around. Check out WatchXL.com which has a gr8 range at awesomely cheap prices watches

One of these stunning UBoat Classico Lefthook AB1 53mm black dials recently was on the bay for 749 pounds buy it now after only havin been used at a trade show supposedly and sold without a box. As its currently better to buy in euros or then pounds.. (rather than US dollars) this was an amazing buy ie $1700AUD shipped vs $3500ish for the AB1 new Au_retail. So there are online deals but u have to risk fake buys esp on ebay. When it comes to uboat dont buy any 50mm diameter face watches as these seem to be the mnost faked. If u can find a gr8 looking 53mm UBoat Classico like pictured this model hasnt been faked so less chance of being ripped off. But the old bait and switch trick of not sending what is in the photo.. still makes ebay vrisky even with 100% seller rating that passes all the usual fraud trix. Aggh one day Uboat u will be mine but TW_Steel or Welder may have to be my entry point. Click2Visit UBoat official site and enter The Collection section + drool over the Uboat beauties. Sometimes biggest watch is best not baby sized 1980s rolex style watches.

U-BoatForum.com

Even Rocky has a Uboat problem, altho I hate orange on watches, not sure why… as I like Fluoro yellow.. altho much prefer the modern usage of carbon fibre, ceramics… and matte’d platinums, rhodiums etc - pioneered by emerging luxury brands like Hublot and established innovators like Audemar Piguet.

Image

Check out U-Boatforum.com - The first place to look for watch related content is Timezone.com (Uboat search example) : It has brand communities for each of the major watch brands - Breitling, Rolex, Hublot, Audemar Piguet. You can spend hours just looking at photos obsessed owners have posted of their beauties. This is not a recessionary site. Members have many watches that cost $5k-$75K each and dont blink continually trading like some of us do computers and mobile phones. So it’s a good place to verify watches + sellers, then buy there at a large to retail discount.

I blame U-Boat forum for introducing me to the watch that is "The One" 4 me; The U-Boat Flightdeck MB 50mm Brown/Beige fave. Damn u internet.

Timezone.com + WatchUseek.com

However U-Boat is too small for Timezone hence U-boatforum is a neat community to share the addiction. Similarly there are a range of brand specific watch communities, like Breitling Source and also category based ones eg Diver Watches, on WatchUseek.com Forums. Anyways.. just thought i’d add the links for those interested. Maybe none of u ?:) ? What u dont say cant hurt me :P Anyway watch forums are evil for time wasting, I mean who cares that Arnie like Stallone is well known for wearing the latest and biggest watches… from Panerai, Uboat and so on..

TW Steel PVD has moved next2 Welder for Closest to Uboat for 20% of Price

Key to note the TWs do not use sapphire crystal or automatic 2824 mechanics (like your U-Boats, Breitlings + Rolexes do altho U-Boat when it started out ago it didnt) both of which are must have for real watchheads. While prices not announced impressive are sizings - 53mm watchface diameter : That will dwarf a Breitling which themselves are10-20% bigger than Rolex. Anyway Im goin watch for the new TW Steel’s even if the branding subname CEO Canteen Collection. From Timezone : “Based on the Canteen collection, the CEO collecion features a new dial, a thicker mineral crystal, Italian leather straps and new versions in rose-gold plate and black PVD steel.”

Diesel Jackets, Uboat + Welder Watches, Sony Vaio P'ing.

So some Diesel jackets - my fave the grey suit jacket bottom right corner at 140 quid… or with more dough the 500 quid top left corner grey leather or the classic black middle bottom - Paired with some 69 quid Clarks desert boots, love the bottom right pair in the mid brown, remember Clarks deserts as a child and being forced to wear by parent. I’d also very much drool over the Ulysses Nardin Diver, very expensive and very fn beautiful. Forget Rolex, the Nardins are the diver to go for.. altho my fave brand at moment is U-Boat and its cheaper brother Welder (K24_line)- Ive included the latest ceramic Uboats that are a few_K’s quid ouch but both designed by Italo Fontano - with Welder thankfully available for a few hundred quid, even if it is quartz powered and mineral crystal. Throw in some Alife/Super sunglasses collab, a Sony VaioP altho I wouldnt really as it runs windows, give me the HP Mini 10 Mi which runs a custom Ubuntu with black UI - a netbook totally focused on surfing the net, which on a public holiday I’ll go back to…

Luv the Clarks Desert Boots which seems to go Perfectlyt with UBoat Ceramic Flightdeck watches which are about to come out.

Elevator Pitch : “Stocktwits for TV : Tweetable.TV = #showname SeriesNumber.EpisodeNumber”

Tweetdeck - 1 Column Aggregate Followers/Searches + Smaller Font. Easy.

Tweetdeck - 1 Column Aggregate Followers/Searches + Smaller Font. Easy.

Twitterific followed by Twhirl then Tweetdeck, whats next

I still remember being slower than the absolute cutting edge when it came to using a twitter 3rd party client, where lo + behold u no longer had to press refresh to see latest follower updates. It took noticing Duncan Riley’s setup to finally download twitterific. Which ironically as I’m using my old powerpc gen1 imac 20″ at moment - w/ twhirl not working on it - i’ve been reusing twitterific : It still works well in that its stable, runs smoothly without hogging lots of memory etc, doesnt bounceball freeze altho it does have inherent problems such as inability to quickly reply, twitter search integration and so on.

So like alot of people I moved onto twhirl. Class leading UI, fast ability to reply, dm etc, and ability to change colour layout when bored. However and I may not have been using it to its total capability, I was still heading off to search.twitter.com to track topics/keywords, the persistent ones of which I add to google reader*. (i put everything in google reader, thousands of feeds - so *I WISH some1 namely google or a feedly type company would create an air app for google reader, so I could watch new items refresh while i was working. This would transform google reader the same way twitter clients do 4 tweets.)

What I really want to talk about though in this post is TV : In the next year or two TV networks are going to totally grok the importance of microblogging and hashtags (putting # before a tweet so when others do all these tweets can be aggregated) for the social element of Television. Typically we watched TV together, as families, then talked about it at work, but then TV audiences became more and more fragmented. But the tools and demand is such that these collective experiences can be repacked up so people can learn from + share about the different media they consume, namely film + Tv shows. (BTW, for any TV execs, traditional TV media buyers, even digital agencies looking at microblogging opportunities to integrate with yer clients really big TV budget… well I’m happy to come in and show some live case studies of yer tv shows :)

Having worked at ninemsn an eon ago, it’s full circle as the collision of the internet and television is happening, and while there are the obvious nirvanas of interactive TV (which the netflixs, cable companies, itunes etc will continue to dominate) the new sharing (that word Facebook now love) based elements (that of the social interaction around television shows we all watch previously referred to as “Watercooler chat” whereby people talk about what they watched last night and voice their opinions) which to a degree underpin the new playboy Boxee, are still yet to be polished up and refined. No1 owns the SocialTV space is my point. Boxee, built on top of open source television on demand, is a beautiful end-end implementation if I bring the TV/monitor, but if I already use Azureus, VLC and Twitter as standalone apps - Boxee is very attractive to me as a FrontRow like presentation layer for my media (which when I get my 120″ projector screen out of storage and have a place with a corresponding wall with a Panasonic HD projector for $1500AUD, by which time there is hopefully a new edition MacMini); But i prob won’t be using Boxee to download. And I’ll probably use twitter to communicate about tv shows with others as it has the mass volume of peeps on it doing so.

Fred Wilson being a Twitter + Boxee investor (gr8 combination btw kudos!) who hopefully can use his 140 character keiretsu clout/cloud to facilitate smart twitter integration/visualisation into boxee. Pictured from Fred is 103" Gizmodo screen, while my screen (in storage is 120"!) but need a wall plus Panasonic HD projector... to which macmini, speakers + receiver can be bolted into! Boxee would be a great UI vs using solely VLC player:) But adding Twitter smarts could be something new esp w/good visualisation. Click for Freds pic on Flickr.

Tweetable.TV = #showname_SeriesNumber_EpisodeNumber

So where should it go from here : When boxee start pulling in twitter hashtagged tv show content and filter it to corresponding show/series/episode, and act in effect like a tweetdeck for tv - then boxee is cooking for gas for me. So via my blackberry I can twitter while watching last episode of brililant bbc3 show #beinghuman S01E06 + that then displays in some kewl visualisation type way to boxee members that are also watching that episode and have opted into show based tweets or those from me. In effect a Stocktwits for TV. That could be a startup in itself. Not to mention the collective harnessing of tweet sentiments (as the Summize team built into advanced search and by extension the API) I wonder what Howard Lindzon, founder of Wallstrip bought by CBS, and then founder of Stocktwits, and keeper of a great blog in these macroapocalypse times! I’ve gotta get his new book : The Wallstrip Edge : How to use Trends to Make Money. How Apt and timely ! Delicious tagged it to purchase when funds allow.

The More I think about this the more I think it could be a good business startup idea. See how well I hide my ideas so NOBODY steals them. Quite the opposite. Realtime market research i much prefer, as well by writing the opportunity up and pressing publish it makes yer brain process the real feasibility likelihood of a TVC station buying as exit or major newspaper media tryingt o diversify into media as a TV station may have too much bias to its own programming inherently ? Is this a good startup idea ? Ala stocktwits for TV ?

With the #dollhouse for example, one big problem is people’s ignorance of other available substitutes. They are so used to having the limited geographic, free to air + cable tv station programming, that they are rating dollhouse when compared to a limited subset. For example the SciFi Cable channel have a brilliant show called #TheSanctuary (mentioned in last post) that is a very similar concept to #Dollhouse. #BeingHuman as I’ve mentioned ditto is a BBC3 channel, so unless u r UK based and had that channel, without the internet or unless u r a globally travelling TV business development exec, u wouldn’t have the ability to compare #dollhouse to the proper universe of substitute shows. And fact is when u compare dollhouse to these 2007-9 shows and not to the shows creators previous shows from up to a decade ago - it doesnt hold up very well. Even HBO is struggling in current market where the audience expect as good as or better than cinema quality productions. Thats why HBO commissioned/bought Six Feet Under/American Beauty creator Alan Ball’s vampire Sookie Stackhouse played by Anna Paquin True Blood show based on the bookset. It’s a different world, TVwise, very competitive and the internet should allow greater choice for consumers, and their ability to get full information about what to watch. Hence, what is so exciting as a “product guy” is the new types of discovery/recommendations features of television programming that can be invented. And alot of this is about facilitating social TV viewing via Tweetable.TV, domain available hehe (if u love an idea set it free and then see if it returns with funding or tech prototype, ping me if either - got a whole TV recommendations algorithmic idea ie Pandora.com of Television Recommendations + realistically leave any ideas on what u think would work or not)

Social TV is gonna be huge, twitter is the platform, yer mobile is the remote, media players are the distribution, hehe.

Social TV is gonna be huge, twitter is the platform, yer mobile is the remote, media players are the distribution, hehe.

So What is the Current Tweetable TV Consumer Process ?

1. Show Debrief : During the week whether it’s #Lost, #Damages, #Dollhouse, #BSG, and so on - there will be episode recaps of the show by blogs.

2. Leadup Buzz to this Week’s Ep : The original night the program goes to air (in America as it is usually first) in the hours leading up people will begin to twitter about looking forward to kicking back on a Friday and watching Battlestar Galactica, Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse. Or on Sunday - Big Love, Damages and Lost.  On Monday if u r in Australia it’s Underbelly.

3. IRL - Just Before EP : In Real Life, closer to the show u will see people twitter to their friends asking whether they want to come over to watch, as well as reminding themselves via telling others to program their DVR if they arent going to be able to catch it.

4. Avoiding Spoilers “Turn of all devices please ladies + gentlemen” : Just before commencement for those not watching, some will say they are leaving their phone in another room as they dont want spoilers.

5. Liveblogging : And obvs when show starts, there will be a few liveblogging the show. Sometimes there are spoilers, but so far people’s sensibility of not wrecking it for others is pretty good. I found it invaluable the little tidbits for watching shows like Mad Men.

#Dollhouse search on Twitter.

#Dollhouse search on Twitter.

6. Syndication 2.0 : Once the show is over for its first viewing - here is where the subtlety of Programming Syndication 2.0 kick in :

- First you get timezone differences in time shown between East Coast and West Coast viewers.

- Ditto in Australia, #Underbelly shows earlier in VIC/NSW than WA, w hich means Perthians often stay away from Twitter search streams if they want to not get spoilers.

- Also the HD x264 versions have gone straight into Torrent  encoding + distributing DVRs, bringing the show to the masses subscribed to via their trackers/mininovas/piratebay’s show based rss feeds

- And the kicker is the alert that these are available are hashtagged by the show names via twitter to those following #dollhouse #lost #underbelly etc. Why press refresh on a web browser, when u can be opted in already to 140 character alerts + direct hyperlinks to the file.

7. New Consumers 9 minute Download or Real Time Stream leading to New Tweets : Once consumer of show gets ep via legal means eg Ch9 are getting faster uploading Underbelly legally even tho they have awful hyro propietary format/midres: Or they get it via private torrent tracker or public mininova/piratebay type means. The net is within a couple hours of show being first shown it is consumed around the world. This then creates a 2nd generation of fresh tweets where people experience the cycle, blogging about looking forward to watching show tonite, inviting friends around, sharing links, and weeting bout show, possibly then writing an epsiode recap the next day.

8. Regeneration : This cycle keeps regenerating itself. The shows with more velocity get network effect; Sometimes before it has even travelled to the other coast. And certainly hours/days/months quicker if u r in another geographic zone. Dollhouse for example good or bad, because of buzz has a huge amount of downloads and people talking about it online. There was builtup demand due to writers strike, and demand for new material from creator of cult shows Buffy, Angel, Firefly. In pure TV ratings numbers, it would likely look like a dud - as low ratings means less advertising sales. This typically leads to cancelled show. But along with torrentfreak.com ratings where shows and movies can be viewed millions of times, if not commercialised, tomorrow’s TV exec is going to have to start taking a holistic view to internet legal, illegal activity and all the legal viral buzz metrics before during and after showing. It may even help improve the product - and which to keep or cull :) Dollhouse for example may end up making lots of dollar$ via series/episode downloads on Itunes and hulu.com like channels. (dollhouse is a fox show yeh so being in australia not sure if its on hulu and/or itunes?)

What wil be interesting to see if the data can be sliced n diced so that the different types of tweets can be categorised into audience reactions to specific episodes, and other types of content such as media interviews with the talent/creators, links to media files and so on. This is the technical holy grail. Further, there needs to be a very specific attribution of the tweet to show name, series number and episode. This is same naming convention as exists in the world of bit torrent search and file naming. For example there has been a huge current commotion on Dollhouse and how much of a disappointment it is post Buffy/Angel/Firefly. Similar to some of the issues with getting geocoded user generated content, ideally as Australian/European/etc are watching #Dollhouse S01.E03 there would be the ability filter #dollhouse tweets specific to that episode. (versus in general about show or other show links) Further, assumptions such as someone tweeting about a show without mentioning the episode number at same time other people are tweeting/while the show is on, would ideally be able to be implicitly attributed to the episode so a larger index of structured user content can be stored.

Interesting research in the space is Mike Walsh’s world of Futuretube mentions that in Japan some of the higher reach than Youtube sites show have live social messaging at bottom of screen; (techcrunch reading on this + wired feature on founder vinteresting; GR8 stuff Mr_Walsh : “In Japan, the most popular video sharing site is Nico Nico Douga (Smiley Smiley Video) attracts almost a billion page views a month. The most distinctive feature of the site is an on-screen commenting function, where user messages scroll as commentaries across the video while playing like a form of visual karaoke.” This is where twitter #hashtags are going, and what consumers are in effect creating for themselves already. They could become the currency or language by which WaterCooler 2.0 conversations happen around entertainment programming.

Bigger than YouTube in Japan and look how important social element is according to Founder : ""Even when the videos are boring, the viewers are getting together and entertaining each other.." via Wired

I was meant to mention I now use Tweetdeck, but I ended up writing about Future of TV…

I mainly use tweetdeck at moment other than iMac powerpc not liking twhirl because of the ability to integrate searches, half of which are TV show related.. so I can track what others are thinking about my favourite shows. They r a great source of relevant episode recaps and talent interviews as well. This is the world that Google is so far away from. And ironically by getting rid of professional content, and allowing legal TV sites such as Hulu to expand, even with YouTube Google are not only missing Live Internet Search, they are missing a huge component of Television 2.0 + 3.0. But again I’ve gone off track - All I wanted to say before i got buzzed on Tweetable.tv in this post was Please Tweetdeck can u create a 1 column version that integrates all my follower updates and matches to my search keywords + hashtags. If I could greatly reduce the font size + layout options so I can compress the screen real estate, then even when I get my 24″ intel imac - I will stick with tweetdeck. And if while u r there u wanted to integrate a google reader air app column, heck give me that friendfeed mini-window realtime update scrolling window and like Zebr a facebook option too.. And then I had one column with smaller font that had all my TV/etc twitter searches, friendfeed updates from each of the rooms, my twitter follower updates, google reader updated posts ideally by folder as i have what i tag “Supa-Spesh” folder which is my top 250 feeds : Then I could drop zebr, greader firefox, twhirl, twitterific, etc. K_thx_bye.

Love the Welder K24 - Best watch under $1k AUD @ $456Euro/$900AUD

Nuthin 2do with TV but Love the Welder K24 - Best watch under $1k AUD @ $456Euro/$900AUD. By Uboat creator.

Sales Pitch at End

If you got this far, u either have too much time and are of no use to me, or for a much smaller % u got this far because we’re related hehe no u got this far as u r spending alot of yer days working on these issues, or u want to. I’m especially interested in the intersection of structured microblogging and television moving online becoming a more social experience.. Additionally, I think such aggregate data + P2p interactions leads perfectly to programming discovery + personalised recommendations So if u r a potential client, or handy developer.. well it would be a roll the sleeves up project I’d love to get involved. Or just leave a comment + tell me whether u think it’s a good business ? Services like stocktwits have proven a very solid business connecting dots between twitter and stocks, the same can apply to twitter and television. Suffice to say it’s a top 5 targeted project of mine, so PING ME already.

Will Boxee Integrate Twitter or Build it's Own Community ?

the trifecta comes in

Last Nites Viewing iMac Died 10 minutes in

The other day i mentioned a quinella of related negative events but as luck good or bad runs in three, I wasn’t sure what the third item would be, well it came in - my most important physical possession that being my work computer. Wont start, well it will start but not boot desktop. So its dead till fixed. But to recap the trifecta and let me vent, sorry this isn’t a pomo meets venture capital localisation 2.0 piece.  But within last 24 hours (poss majority of it literally caused by heatwave), the dentist wants $615 (half this week non-negotiable), watch dies ($1k replacement) but now where it hurts most my primary  work machine : the was top of line - 2.8 24″ imac that as usual is just out of warranty and wont boot - just a never booting grey or blue screen. So the bonus is I found my White Raybans, but other than that I need one of those homeless cards “Will Code for Food” - except i wouldnt be coding and i dont need food. So it would read more like “Will do business shit for questionable people to fix my stoopid fn imac + front tooth. There after all some people doing real creative work.

Woostercollective : “Today, after more than a year of planning, 2000 square meters of rooftops have been covered with photos of the eyes and faces of the women of Kibera. The material used is water resistant so that the photo itself will protect the fragile houses in the heavy rain season. The train that passes on this line through Kibera at least twice a day has also been covered with eyes from the women that live below it. With the eyes on the train, the bottom half of the their faces have be pasted on corrugated sheets on the slope that leads down from the tracks to the rooftops. The idea being that for the split second the train passes, their eyes will match their smiles and their faces will be complete.”

Now thats a Creative Project

So I’ve totally lost my humour as everytime I get ready to have a crack at “it” - Another “it” comes + fks the game up. It’s lucky no1 reads or comments on this blog, so I can just write whatever fkn crap i want. It ain’t got no bigger metapurpose. So the question is do I write down the phone number of DesignWyse where the machine was bought, which is closer in Dandenong, or go to Compnow Malvern which is normal repair spot? 45 minute drive each way vs 1 hour (so there will be at least 3 up to 4 hours of driving plus x hours/days of waiting plus X$ hundred just to look at, well first hour + parts yknow)

Or do I wait for a day I’m in Melbourne scouting for work, eg Friday this week and get repaired then.. even if I have second dentist appointment this Thursday (was all meant to be done yday except that turned into an exercise in them apologising 3 minutes in for not allowing enough time for the procedure + instead telling me how they were going to spend $615 - which the manboy younger than me lost in translation dentistdoctor isnt even man enough to do : they make blonde front desk (well upon my request) explain price as dentist says he doesnt do that bit.. which is silly as said blondes dont always do it better receptionist still needs to go off and talk to manboy dentist anyway coz she doesnt understand what needs to be done/how could she ?

Suffice to say there is no better business to operate than one where they take $615 for in effect an xray followed by a few fillings spread over 3 meetings. oh, and u do get to temporarily wear these $6 hongkong tron sunglasses, for um i dunno - xray radiation, is that the standard now even in regional victoria ?

So if i dont fix computer first (likely using borrowed dentistry money or doubling up which i dont even think is possible so it may be either/or) and then dentist mouth/hip pocket r@pe$ moi Thursday - the outcome of all this BB mumbo jumbo is i may not ever have an intel osx o/s anytime soon unless it can be fixed for under $100 and by the sound the dvd player is making which it shouldn’t during bootup, which has only been used once and then died burning mad men (hence it may be source of trouble - i can already hear them say ‘out of warranty. dvd player/burner replacement hardware and installation $500′)

The irony, apart from the fact that the dvd player/burner didnt ever work, and i didnt bust it, and this seems very common on Apple computers, is i type this on the other desktop apple imac that started this quest 4 years ago - where for 10 years I had been employed earning $100k+ but then I get my first apple, the 1st gen 20″ imac powerpc.. not that it hasnt had its troubles : I havent had an apple that had a problem within first 12 months warranty nor have I had a apple that didnt have over $500 of problems after 12 months when there was no warranty; They r european sports before they were bought by automotive audiesque holding companies. Just in this case Apple hasnt been bought by a German Efficiency Borg, so they r still Maseratis in their 80’s manufacturing.

As normal my answer to this problem will be to go to cafe and chain. With said computer in car (or not), and the 2 computer service phone numbers jutted down in moleskine.. most sensible may be to take in tomorrow.. i cant tell u how annoying it was to be contented yday around 9pm after high cardio gym session, sore body but piece of mind to sit down to a couple gig of fresh torrentvault VIP thankingUmuchly4that viewage (nuthin like pullin down 4 hours of new viewing in under 30 mins while u r running)

- Being Human (excellent UK show about a vamp/wear/ghost that live together but want to be normal)

- Big Love (Season 3 is good, dont worry about Season 1 preconceptions, S2+3 r vgood)

- United States of Tara (Diablo Cody hasnt written anything bad yet) More ere.. from Vulture : “In these trying times, we’re all doing more with less. So it is on the new and interesting (in a good way, mostly) United States of Tara. As the ubiquitous ads declare, U.S. of T. is about “one woman; multiple personalities.” In other words: They’re milking Toni Colette’s awesome acting chops for as many roles as possible. The concept could have easily veered into territory described by one character as a “Lifetime lady tampon movie,” but thanks to the brash, female-sexuality-obsessed perspective of series creator and writer Diablo Cody, the show balances — nay, overcompensates — for any possible after-school-special parallels with, basically, bad words.and

- Flight of Conchords (3 eps into Season 2 and ep1 really sucked but Ep 2+3 absoluteley awesome.. so 1 was just an outlier… have no idea how any1 could prefer Entourage/How I met your Mother to Conchords)

Ydays workout

So i had my programming all ready, and then bang I’m watching the 4th potential wive on Big Love making out with her FkBuddy when Polygamist Bill and his 3rd wife rock up and catch her… but I dont know what happened after that… a total freeze, never to reboot successfully just a white screen with apple logo… into infinity which i watched for like 90 mins… and has since turned me stir crazy, angry. any1 who said money doesnt matter is fn crazy.

And to think this blog post was going to be along lines of me saying I agreed with/empathised with Chris Burden on how you get your news : “The news institution is merging its California section of state and local news with the rest of the paper, leaving less space for stories taking place in our own backyards. In other words, say goodbye to the very thing the LA Times can do better than anyone else—cover California. New media expert Jeff Jarvis once wrote that papers should “cover what they do best and link to the rest.” (insert mandatory journalist groans and eye rolls here.) But the man has a point.”

Now I know you are what u manifest and obvs I’m putting bad karmic energy out into the livesphere.. but I’d just like my computer back and fixed for under $100… well after I book it in, drive for 4 hours, u diagnose n fix it etc. Coz now I’ve got no Video Skype either… how could they make these old imacs without a camera…

Quarter $M of 16 Dream Watches from $600 to $60K each

Given there is only 1 day left of my self-enforced week off to gather my thoughts so I can hit the ground running for 2009 (there is nothing worse when being self employed, that holidays dont exist in the classic definition, and given no1 is paying me at moment, I needed a week to get my 2009 strategy together, and ability to freshly execute it. Apologies to already back.. but it’s a bit hard to focus when $ are zilch) Anyway, wrapping up my torrents, sneakers, urbanwear fetish as @ m0nty dubbed it, i wouldn’t limit myself just to sneakers, as womyn wouldn’t limit themselves solely to manolos and their jak + jil highrise heelkix.

Not sure when I got into watches, might have been when i first found the Timezone forum (try Breitling forum for an example - Super Avenger model is prob best formal stainless steel watch for impact/class/value under $4k), after purchasing a Raymond Weil W1 chrono on Ebay for a couple hundred bux. I was hooked.. sapphire crystal sure sure is addictive. Watches above range from $600USD Welder (top left black pvd/yellow fluro face) to a few Breitling and Uboats in the $2K-$4k range, then alot in the $5K-$15K entry level good swiss divers ala JLC, Blancpain Rolex Deepsea etc… BTW this list isn’t comprehensive, just clipped from watch blogs I subscribe to in google reader from the last week.

Just as I mention Timezone and Post this Uboat watch one comes up used on Timezone for 850 pounds/$1770 Aussie, pretty damn good, even if it is the 45mm not 53mm diameter, and prob mineral not sapphire crystal it still looks phast and at under $2k it is bomb. good bomb that is it, going off mad bomb. not bomb going off i lost my limb klinger bad. Click Watch for Timezone UK post.

I just wish there was a great watch site/community/pricing negotiation tool downunder… that is something I’d like to get involved in 2009 if any1 is interested.. it’s such an inefficient market locally thru combination of online ebay copies passed as genuine with offine Authorised Dealer’s noncomprehensive overpriced stock plus fragmented watch community websites. I know it’s a recession n’all but the rich is still rich after having got richer the last few years. I mean look :

Twitter's $20m Upping the MicroBlogging Stakes at $250m Valuation via Micky TC Arringrton

1. Twitter is raising another $20M at $250m or so.. investors reasoning it’s half what Facebook wanted to all stock buy them for. (this is good for industry any healthy funding signs like these, good for sector confidence.. and convince the next investor to participate rather than “sit it out”. Scoble comments this values twitter at $42 per user (not sure if this includes the 3rd party app users which r supposedly bigger than .com uniques?) Techcrunch : “It’s likely they’ll raise more than the $20 million in capital they’ve taken in over two previous rounds. Their last round, raised in June 2008, was a $15 million raise from new investors Spark Capital and Bezos Expeditions. Union Square Ventures and Digital Garage increased their previous investment.”

2. 6 big swinging dks shared in $11B.. in a recent fundraising which puts twitter’s “extravagance” (that being $20m in working capital) in perspective. Via the (was supposed to be much much bigger) little free bit of the Wallstreetjournal online : “Two years ago the founders of Blackstone, Fortress Investment Group and Apollo Management were the toast of Wall Street. Now investors who bought into their vision know what getting toasted really means: Their shareholdings in the listed vehicles are down between 85% and 95%. But not everyone is in the dumps. In 2007, the firms’ key principals – comprising just 11 men — took $6 billion in cash off the table. The combined market value of those three firms today? Roughly $6 billion.”

So I’m more and more impressed by Polyvore, (subscribe to their blog ere) their combination of bookmarklet to clip images, and ability to then create an aggregate embeddable image of your items, with the deep linking incl thumbnail of image and summary description of item really is brilliant. I’m amazed their arent Polyvore like tools for other categories like automotive. Maybe they’ll have an API soon ? So like  twitter, there can be a range of mashups from the Polyvore platform ? from Audemars Piguet, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, Panerai limited editions incl one for Ferrari California droptop, to Jaeger Le Coultre, U-Boat, Welder Diving Watches and one Rolex, a brand I dont like except for a PVD treatment model, and I dont mind the Deepsea Diver hehe - If u dont want a house or latest 911 Porsche, drop a quarter million and have the best watches money can buy !

The worst thing about living/working in Australia is the oligopolies and lack of competition it creates. It creates a marketplace of fkn retarded ppl (sorry PC crowd, i mean that in terms of spastik biz peeps) and its all ol’boyz, dumbos, and plans that never happen. It’s why u end up with crazy shite like #clean_internet_feed. So I’m all for competitive marketplaces; I blogged about U-Boat watches, which are a bigger is better, crisp Italian post Rolex designed watch - to compete against your dad’s smaller is worse traditionals.

Love a Yellow Face

Well it seems the founding U-Boat designer : Italo Fontana - setup his own brand - Welder (check out K24 line); Prices 1/5th to 1/10th of Uboat. Oh, the irony. And they r nice watches; Big. (@ 48mm - gr8 on the wrist) I’m grokkn the Welder K24 line esp the all black PVD models. Yellow face nice. My Welder flickr pix’ere.

That is a really well priced watch. Look at how they deliver it to your house, direct off internet when traditional brands refuse to sell online because of 3rd party discounting; You have to love the packaging it arrives in. How military.

Or Maybe Try an Orange Dial ?

Or Maybe Try an Orange Dial ?

I also love the U-Boat Type_1 carbon fibre line, which at 52mm are suitably huge and again very cheap at $475-$525. Up to just under $1k for the beautiful gold bezel K24 (and im not into gold watches)

Noice Gold Bezel K24 for Under $1k

Beautiful Yellow Face PVD 488mm Welder K24 Chrono @ $770

Beautiful Yellow Face PVD 48mm Welder K24 Chrono @ $770. This is the one I'd get, um and is now on my shopping list for next watch givn I cant afford UBoat + I have an All Black Magic Hublot, so Yellow Face will mix it up.

Ironically, you can see the U-Boat influence, but also Audemars Piguet (prob my fave watch brand) which is favoured equally by your JayZ/Pharrell and Silicon Valley billionaires. Oh, and Californian governors, who may have done some promotional duties for a similar watch for the Terminator_3 movie :) Great article here if u r interested in watches, esp the killa brand - AP. See any similarities designwise at $60k each? How does $600 sound ? Welcome to the class structure of watches and branding. Is there really that big a difference between $600 + $60,000 ? hehe

Read About Audemars Piguet my Fave Watch Brand + Doesnt the T3 Look Similar. Arnie wears AP and U-Boat. Maybe soon he will wear a Welder K24 at $600 not $60K for Ap or $3K for U-Boat!
